Okay, this is passed along from RFLong.  I don't have a huge friends list, but if you're interested leave me a comment:

Leave a comment and I will
a) tell you why I friended you,
b) associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc.,
c) tell you something I like about you,
d) tell you a memory I have of you,
e) ask something I've always wanted to know about you,
f) tell you my favorite user pic of yours,
g) in return, you must post this in your LJ.

a)You are the oldest . . . let me rephrase that . . . you are the longest running online writing friend that I know.
b)The Holtlands, oh and Dublin.
c)You are reciprocal--you believe in giving and receiving critiques. Believe me, that's not always easy to find. Oh yeah, and you're easy(He, he).
d)For better or worse I always associate you with our critique group. Oh, and the musty smell of old books. When I smell an old book I think: "I bet Ruth is smelling this at work right now."
e)How did you start writing fantasy?
f)I love the picture that you created. I'm not sure what you call it, but it fits your writing to a T.

So glad you rephrased (a).

(d) I probably am. Many old books smell (usually of thinks much worse than "old book"). I know some rare book librarians who advocate putting old books in a box with a dry air-freshener block for several days but the overpowering stench of lavender would do it for me!

(e) My parents had an old reel to reel tape of The Hobbit. I used to listen to it endlessly, and specifically remember re-enacting parts of it. That's probably it, coupled with Robin Hood and Pirate stories, mythology, King Arthur, Celtic legends etc. That's where the love of fantasy came from anyway. As to how I started writing... Em... My father writes a bit (mainly comedy, some poetry) My kids already make up stories (and not just to get out of trouble). It's probably genetic. :D

(f) The bridge? (above) That image is the Holtlands for me. But its from Puy de Fou in France.

Naw, it's not the bridge. The drawing of the woman. I think she has one leg folded under her and has some kind of jewels across her forhead. I thought you said you drew that. This picture makes me think of your writing for some reason--you always have such interesting female characters.

This one? No, not me. I wish it was. This is a detail from a Jim Fitzpatrick picture called Sive. I love her too. She embodies a few of my female characters alright. :D (and thanks!)
